   Cylinders and cones have very similar volume formulas, as do pyramids and prisms.For volume you take the formula for prisms and cylinders and divide it by three to get the formula for pyramids and cones. The similariteis do end at the surface area though, because there are completly different formulas for the prism, cylinder, cone, and pyramid.
